Modern Kinesiology – a new treatment for chronic pain?

Chronic pain is one of the most difficult conditions to live with and affects about a staggering 20% of the global population. Kinesiology has been around for 60 years now (as founded by Dr Goodheart in the 1964), so what’s new? And how come it is being hailed as a new treatment for chronic pain relief?

The 60-year development of this holistic modality has seen great success in tackling chronic pain for a number of reasons. If you’re not familiar with Kinesiology, it involves using muscle testing to get information from the body and work with the innate wisdom of the body, to tackle the root cause of health issues.

At Duffy Health, we take a modern approach to Kinesiology: keeping the core principles intact while combining new discoveries in a huge range of treatment approaches including nutritional medicine, trauma release, neuro-biology, EMDR, and cranial therapy, to name a few.

Because Kinesiology tests and works with muscles, reflexes, cognition, nerves, lymphatics, it is a very varied and powerful approach to most health concerns but is particularly useful when it comes to pain.

Chronic pain is defined as pain for 3 months or longer, and in a large number of cases, the pain is like an alarm switch that has never been turned off. Such pain can be described as neuro-plastic. It’s there, it’s real, but often its original cause is no longer active.

Our bodies are excellent at reacting to stress, to help us survive. But we are not as adept at coming out of stress, or the switching off the ‘alarm’ of pain, when the danger to the body is gone or the area affected by the pain originally has in fact now healed.

There are so many reasons why people can’t seem to get relief from chronic pain. One of the most common we see in clinic is due to stressful times in life, old trauma(s), grief. Basically any situation where the body has locked in those feelings of pain, and no over-the-counter medication will bring a long term solution unless the previous memories are addressed and alleviated.

With over 200 techniques and counting, Kinesiology offers a completely non-invasive new treatment for chronic pain relief. In recent years, new techniques developed by leaders in the field of kinesiology and Osteopathy have led to massive breakthroughs, and further new techniques have been developed in this clinic.

We are proud to have worked with many difficult cases, clients who had suffered with chronic pain for over 20 years, and were looking everywhere for a new treatment for chronic pain relief. While every client is different, so far the majority of clients experience some reduction in their chronic pain symptoms after just one appointment, though for lasting results more treatment is typically necessary.

The beauty of Kinesiology is that the approach is very gentle and works from exactly where the client is at today. If you’re not someone who wants to talk about their stress, the muscles will do the talking, and if you’re in a lot of pain, we can work with the nerves and nervous system to bring about balance, allowing the body to lessen the symptoms and continue to heal itself. True health comes from within.
